Russ Bauer has been a member of the Orange County Probation Department for more than 28 years. He is currently a Supervising Probation Officer for the Santa Ana Juvenile Field Supervision Unit. Mr. Bauer oversees juvenile probationers in the cities of Santa Ana, Orange and Tustin. His highly skilled eleven-member team supervises over 850 probationers between the ages of 11-21 years old. He was previously a Deputy Probation Officer II, having been himself initially assigned to the Santa Ana Juvenile Field Unit. For approximately eleven years, he was assigned to the Special Enforcement Division. From 1992 to 2003, he worked with the La Habra Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVS), was a member of the North County Tri-Agency Resources Gang Enforcement Team (TARGET) and was an officer with the Probation High Control Supervision unit. Within these assignments, he was responsible to supervise a mixed adult and juvenile field caseload of probationers deemed to be hard-core, violent street gang members who most negatively impacted the community. This responsibility includes contact with law enforcement agencies, schools, intervention programs and persons in the community on a regular basis. In addition, he has presented gang awareness training for the probation department, numerous citizen groups, parents and educators about the impact of gangs and criminal gang activity within the Community.  For the past 20 years, Mr. Bauer has participated in several educational, sports and leadership programs in the community in which he resides.
