Our Board | Youth Council | Sandy Barba

Sandy Barba is an alumna from University of California, Irvine where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology. She has been with the City of Santa Ana for 10 years and first began as a Youth Counselor under the City’s Summer Youth Program where she discovered her passion for serving youth. In July of 2002 she joined the Santa Ana Youth Council – since then she has been serving as a member of the public sector. At the City of Santa Ana under the Community Development Agency, she is the Youth Program Manager for the Youth Service Provider Network (YSPN), which is a coalition of community base organizations (CBOs) and education agencies that offer a variety of workforce-related services to youth. As the Youth Program Manager, Mrs. Barba oversees and provides technical assistance to the YSPN, offers appropriate Workforce Investment Act (WIA) training to all of the youth service providers, and oversees any special youth projects administered by the Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center like the Youth Workforce Development Program (YWDP). The YWDP offers youth valuable work experience throughout the summer while teaching them the soft skills to succeed in the world of work and the importance of higher education. Furthermore, Sandy was instrumental in helping develop the first Youth Help Desk at the Santa Ana W/O/R/K Center, which she is proud to say is operational as of July 2007.
